JDM CRX / Civic conversion FAQs.

** Disclaimer **

The information here are basic front end swap guidelines.  This is not a complete source for swap information.  You will find more information on this swap on the internet through years of forum discussions and different experiences by other Honda enthusiasts.  We will not cover full conversion information here, only certain common questions that we continuously receive regarding the reproduction parts we sell.

Do I need all the JDM front end parts to use the JDM Civic EF9 bumper on my USDM Civic HB?

-  To use the JDM EF9 bumper on a USDM 88-91 Civic HB, you don't necessarily need the JDM headlights, hood and filler.  You can mount the EF9 bumper using the rest of the USDM front end as you are only replacing the bumper.  It will be a direct fit under the USDM filler and will line up with the USDM fender.

-  For easy install, you will need a JDM bumper support as it bolts up easily to the USDM chassis and will not require any modifications or fabrication.   You can use  use the USDM bumper support but it will require extensive modification and fabrication to bolt on the bumper to the support.   Alternatives would be to fabricate your own mounting support or brackets to the chassis.  Origin.H is also in the works in manufacturing a bumper support similar to the OEM JDM support.  It is in development now and should be available soon.

Can I used the JDM Civic EF9 bumper on a Civic wagon?

We know it has been done plenty of times but unfortunately we have limited information on exact install instructions as we have not done this ourselves.  From what we know no modifications are needed on the bumper itself or other body parts of the wagon.  There will be modification/fabrication required to make the bumper support work with this EF9 bumper.  While we know this swap has been completed before, please do your research on details on actual install.

Do I need the JDM headlights and hood with the JDM CRX EF8 bumper on my USDM CRX?

Since the CRX EF8 bumper is shaped to fit the JDM headlight, you will need the rest of the JDM parts to complete the look.  You will need the JDM headlights and hood but you can retain using the USDM fenders.

Are the JDM CRX EF8 and JDM Civic EF9 bumper supports the same?

No they are not exactly the same. While the chassis mounting location are the same for each chassis, the mounting holes to the bumper are not the same.

Origin.H is working on a new bumper support that will be compatible with their bumper as well as the OEM bumpers.  This will provide an alternative option to use instead of using the JDM bumper support.

Will the JDM CRX or JDM Civic fit the EF sedan?

We personally have not checked the fitment on the sedan.  As far as we know,, we haven't seen it done as it may totally have different shape and mounting points.  We don't have a definite answer, so please check further regarding this fitment.
